Mother’s Day is around the corner, and it’s time to start thinking about the perfect gift for mom. If you’re looking for a fun and easy craft to make with your kids for Mother’s Day, then look no further than paint resist.
To add an extra special touch to your Mother’s Day craft, pair it with your favorite Mother’s Day book. Some great options include “The Night Before Mother’s Day” by Natasha Wing, “Just Me and My Mom (A Little Critter Book)” by Mercer Mayer, and “I Turned My Mom into a Unicorn: A funny thankful story (Ted and Friends)” by Brenda Li.
To get started, you’ll need some white cardstock paper/ canvas board (I used an 8×10 board from the Dollar Tree), tape, glitter, paint brushes (circle brushes are from the Dollar Tree), watercolors or washable paints, and stencils or cutouts that spell out “MOM.
Place your stencil or cutout on the paper and secure it with tape. Make sure to press down on the edges of the stencil to prevent paint from seeping underneath. Next, paint the paper with watercolors or washable paints. You can use a paintbrush or even your fingers to create different textures and patterns. Make sure to cover the entire paper, including the edges.
After you have painted the paper, let it dry completely. Once it is dry, carefully remove the stencil or cutout. You will see that the paint has resisted the area where the stencil or cutout was placed, creating a beautiful pattern.
Your little learner will be proud of their creation, and it’s a perfect way to show their mom how much they care. So, gather your supplies, get creative, and have fun making something special for your mom this Mother’s Day!
