Why Our Family Loves Martial Methods in Brevard County

As moms, our to-do lists are never-ending. Between juggling school schedules, meal planning, and trying to ensure our kids grow up to be kind, confident humans, it’s easy to feel a bit overwhelmed. Finding an activity that checks all the boxes can feel like finding a needle in a haystack.

If you’ve been searching for that magic activity, I have to share one of our personal favorites. For the past year, my kids have been training at Martial Methods in Rockledge, and it has honestly been a game-changer for our family.

Whether you’re looking for a structured after-school activity or a way to round out your homeschool curriculum, here is why we are officially a martial arts family.

The Martial Methods Difference

Located in Rockledge, Brevard County, Martial Methods isn’t your typical strip mall dojo. It’s an indoor-outdoor training complex that specializes in traditional Shorin-Ryu karate and Krav Maga.

From the moment we walked in a little over a year ago, the atmosphere felt different. It’s professional, disciplined, and focused, but also incredibly welcoming. Sensai Morgan doesn’t just teach punching and kicking. She teaches a lifestyle of respect and focus that my kids have actually started bringing home to the dinner table.

Why Martial Arts? The Benefits We’ve Seen

I initially signed them up because I wanted them to get some physical activity after school and learn some self-defense skills. But over the last year, they have gained so much more:

  • Unshakeable Confidence: Watching my kids master a new form or earn a new stripe has done wonders for their self-esteem. They’ve learned that hard work leads to results.

  •  Focus and Discipline: If your kid struggles with selective hearing at home, karate might be the answer. The structure of the classes helps them practice listening and following multi-step directions.

  •  Physical Fitness: It’s a full-body workout that builds coordination and strength. Plus, it gets them away from the screens and moving their bodies!

  •  A Supportive Community: The dojo family is real. My kids have made wonderful friends, and Sensai Morgan is an amazing mentor.

Perfect for After-School and Homeschool Families

One of the biggest struggles for busy Brevard County moms is the schedule. Martial Methods is fantastic about catering to different lifestyles.

  • For After-Schoolers: It’s the perfect way for kids to burn off that pent-up energy after a long day in the classroom. Instead of zoning out in front of the TV, they are engaging their minds and bodies.

  • For Homeschoolers: We know how important socialization and PE credits are! Martial Methods offers a structured environment that fits perfectly into a homeschool day, providing the social interaction and physical activity that can be hard to replicate at home. The best part… They accept StepUp Scholarships!

The Ultimate Summer Solution

Can we talk about summer for a second? If you’re like me, the “I’m bored” chorus starts about three days into summer. Last year, we tried out Martial Methods summer camp, and it was hands-down the highlight of our break. If you’re not ready to commit to a monthly membership, try a week of summer camp! Your kids will want to come back!

Martial Methods summer camp is packed with action. They balance high-energy games and self-defense drills with plenty of downtime for crafts and making friends. It’s a lifesaver for working moms or anyone who wants their kids to stay active while school is out. My kids came home exhausted in the best way possible, and they actually looked forward to waking up early for it every morning!

Is it Worth it?

If you’re on the fence, I can tell you from the perspective of a mom who has been there every week for over a year: it is worth it! Seeing my kids stand a little taller, speak a little more clearly, and know how to protect themselves is priceless. If you are looking for martial arts in Brevard County, I can’t recommend Martial Methods enough.
